Earl had the extraordinary ability to bring people of diverse interests and backgrounds together. He did this in a calm and gentle manner and always projected his sincere respect for individuals. Earl died suddenly while attending the National Labor-Management Conference in Chicago on May 29, 2996. In a eulogy given at the National Conference, Earl was described as a "peace maker." The Twin City Area Labor Managment Council is proud to name its Labor Managment Cooperation and Partnership Award in Earl's memory.
